Taking Never-Stop Technology™ below the freezing point at Bauma 2025

Going to Bauma? So are we. This year, we’re freezing the trade floor to an uncomfortable temperature. Our remote controls can take it, but do you dare enter?

Where engineering giants come to life

Bauma isn’t just a trade fair—it’s a city of its own, built from steel and ambition, where giants roam. Cranes rise like skyscrapers, their hooks alone as prominent as mining trucks. An engineering spectacle, a playground for the boldest minds in construction, mining, and industrial machinery. You must be there if you build, move, or shape the world. Scanreco is participating to help unlock the full potential of the operator in a remote world – even in the most extreme conditions.

Built for the extremes

During Bauma 2022, we invited trade show participants to our booth, designed as a huge remote control. This year, we want to do something different and instead give you a glimpse of how our remotes can control heavy machinery – even in extreme environments. So, we dare you to step into our frozen landscape. Mattias Kelam, Head of Product Management, describes the vision:

– We are creating an interactive experience where we show how our remote controls are built for extremely harsh conditions, and at Bauma, we’re focusing on intense cold. Picture yourself as an operator doing your job on the North Pole, says Mattias.

Upcoming products showcased at Bauma

– Rocket Long-range transmitter: Combining the trusted Rocket Flex design with the G6 platform and extended range, this transmitter is ideal for remote control in challenging applications like vacuum suction trucks and directional drilling.

– A Scanreco Pistol Grip solution: Designed for durability and comfort in demanding environments. Featuring a 2,4” monochrome or color display and customizable controls, it’s ideal for the North American market, excelling in service cranes, material handling, construction, forestry, marine cranes, and more.

– Mega Flex: Our biggest remote yet, intended for complex machines requiring a large real estate for hosting all the actuators needed. Its 7″ glove-friendly, scratch-resistant touchscreen offers excellent sunlight readability, while membrane buttons streamline frequent tasks.

Products released at Bauma

– Proximity Detection System: Enhances operator awareness by measuring the distance between the transmitter and receiver, ensuring a safe zone when working with hazardous machines like stump grinders and trench rollers.

– Unparalleled Remote Control Displays: We offer a wide range of advanced displays to enhance operator performance with superior feedback and visibility. At Bauma, we’ll showcase new options for Micro Transmitters—a 2.4” monochrome display, a 3.5” color display—along with several other models, including a new 7” touch screen for future models.

– Camera Solution: With our high-end color display it’s a reliable way to monitor operations that ensures clear visibility in challenging conditions, enhancing safety and productivity.

– Ruggedized Charger: Designed for on-machine charging, high-vibration environments with limited grid access, built to enable uninterrupted operations.

– Carrying Belt: Designed in collaboration with functional wear experts, our new carrying belt prioritizes durability and ergonomics to give operators a more comfortable wearing experience. With a transmitter in the waist belt, users’ hands are free while maintaining full mobility.

Unlocking the potential of the smart operator

Although our remotes and machines they remote are cool–we believe the real spotlight at this year’s edition of Bauma should be on the operator. Currently, our industry is experiencing a lack of experienced operators, and many companies struggle to find employees. Mattias believes that more companies must consider how to make their machines competitive with the operator in mind. Mattias describes how:

– We talk about the smart operator. We are facing new conditions in our industry. Besides the lack of skilled operators, enhanced automation and digitalization, we see an increase in the number of machines being rented. The machines and remotes controlling them must, therefore, be really intuitive and user-friendly. Any operator should be able to pick up a remote and get started.

Mattias continues:

– The idea of automation is not necessarily to eliminate the operators, but the operators need to take on a different role. Some operators won’t run just one machine but several. So, five processes might be ongoing simultaneously. This demands an intelligent interface where the operator controls processes and manages potential problems on the respective machine all in one remote.

Hopefully, we piqued your interest in the benefits of the smart operator. We would love to meet you at Bauma to discuss this further and show you our remotes. Feel free to book a meeting with one of us already.

And don’t miss out on the opportunity to learn more about the smart operator. Scanreco has written a book about the concept, and copies will be available at stand 141 in hall A2—so be sure to stop by and get one.

Hope to see you in Munich in April!
