Scanreco Build

Platforms to choose from

No custom-made system is like any other, we’ll be the first to admit that. Through the decades of partnering with large OEMs around the world, we have chiseled out a model of working that ensures a smooth partnership and state-of-the-art custom-made products. We try to explain how you can take advantage of this truly unique OEM platform concept in our Scanreco Build model.

Standard plus

Which means that you find one of our remote families appropriate with small changes. Maybe you want the remote red or yellow?

Mechatronic, Software and/or design

This platform is based on an existing remote/radio configuration, but you need your own design, function (software and hardware) and/or special layout on the controls.

Start from zero

Here we start a journey into the unknown, but the result will be your exclusive remote for your specific market. From our side we need a large quantity to take on the journey, if you are looking into a midmarket there is Scanreco FLEX.

Scanreco process in 9 steps

Let´s jump on a boat and see if we will make the whole journey together, is there a fit? The Scanreco Build model can be 9 steps to a successful launch:

Who are we?
Checking a remote after a free fall on asphalt

Who are we?

You will most probably start with checking who we are, who our clients are and our knowledge in the field.

The next question is, what is our culture? Can you trust us? We can of course not tell you how we are perceived. We will not bother you with the same value words everybody else uses.

You will find us easy going, Swedes are known to build companies with flat organizations and there is a pride in staying put when the wind picks up and rocks the boat. But let´s meet and just take a “fika”, tell us more about you and your challenges!

What challenges your operator?
Be empathic with the operator

What challenges your operator?

Normally you would want to visit our facilities, this could be an opportunity to exchange visions and values. From our perspective the operator has more challenges than most white collar workers admit. Controlling machines with brute force can be dangerous, lifting and moving around material is unfortunately a big part of the accident statistics.

Human error is mostly a result of bad HMI. We should all work like the flight industry, one of the most successful areas that has suppressed risk and accidents. When there is an accident the question is ”What can we do to avoid it in the future?” Hopefully, you are as concerned as we are to create the best control for the task. Best to us is a control that never fails in communication – technically and humanistic.

Your specifications

Your specifications

Have you made a specification? Let’s sign an NDA and check it out. We need to look at your goals regarding volumes and target prices.

If you already have a supplier and are looking for replacement, maybe we should check backwards compatibility?

Usually there is a request for some tests.

If you choose to work with us there will be some negotiations and if we agree, we have a contract. While the negotiation is moving along there is a technical cooperation to define the controls, regulations etc.

We find the specs have become better lately and we enjoy those that are critical and knowledgeable.

Aha, this is what you mean”-questions are usually taken care of by our technical development team. Hopefully you don´t mind that they build something that goes along with your specification. Just quick&dirty to make sure we have the same expectations.

As the development team are solving the deeper questions in the hardware we will communicate more with you about software and interface. It would be naïve to expect a development without any problems, but our teams won´t give up, we will not let you down. It is here relations are tested.

Office test and lab prototype

Office test and lab prototype

You will get what we call an office test, your R&D gets a sample that is only to be evaluated in an office environment.

When the office test is granted, we move into the lab and the testing starts, leading to a lab prototype.

Alaska or Bangkok
Remote in snow

Alaska or Bangkok

Six or seven months later there are real samples ready for field testing (are you in a hurry? Check out our Scanreco FLEX solution). They have passed verifications and are CE-labeled. Time to take them into the reality. Some clients want to take them to Alaska and Bangkok, some want to test them through seasons. It takes time and is of course very critical.

Production and delivery.

Production and delivery.

This is where your and our logistics are kicking in. At the same time we make sure that all approvals are made in each country that you are aiming for.

As a manufacturer we have worldwide authorizations but when a new remote or a change is made, we need new approvals.

Next thing is like starting a supertanker, production ramps up and our EMS department makes sure that forecasts and orders are in sync.

Service and Warranties

Service and Warranties

Negotiated plans are put into work, how warranty claims are handled, what happens after the warranty period. Who repairs and who takes care of service? Normally we are looking at the next remote with you.

About Scanreco

Making work in harsh environments safer and more efficient since 1984

Technological innovation, reliability, safety, affordability, and ease of use have always been our hallmarks. Leading original equipment manufacturers (OEM) such as Fassi, Schwing, Hiab (Cargotec), Hammar Maskin and HMF have hence handpicked Scanreco as a main supplier of professional radio remote control systems globally.

The (not-so-secret) secrets of Never-Stop Technology™ by Scanreco

Protection against water, salt, sand and dust

From fishing ships at sea to agricultural sprayers in the field, Scanreco radio remote control systems are tough and built to withstand water, salt, sand, and dust ingress. Let’s face it, the last thing you want to experience is downtime due to water ingress. That is why the leading OEMs in maritime, agriculture and energy equipment depend on Scanreco for long-lasting remote-control solutions.

  • IP65 or IP67 on all products
  • Sealed circuit boards
  • Carefully chosen materials that withstand the elements

Built to withstand extreme vibration

Mobile hydraulic machines vibrate. Machines like stone crushers, horizontal grinders, and conveyors are MADE to vibrate, sometimes violently. Scanreco is the chosen radio remote control platform for mobile hydraulic machines that have the capability to grind concrete, stone, demolition debris, railroad ties, whole trees, pallets, storm debris, shingles, logs, stumps and even entire glass recycle containers.  With potted components selected for toughness and durability, our receivers sometimes outlast even the machines on which they are mounted.

  • Thoroughly tested for vibration in our laboratories
  • Extensive 3rd party testing
  •  IP65 or IP67 on all products

A minimum of access points

Although Scanreco has been a wireless innovator for nearly 40 years, wired connections for tethered control, firmware programming, control box cabling and antenna extensions are sometimes needed. However, we strive to keep wired connection points to a minimum and have designed and reinforced access points to curtail the ingress of water and dust.

  • Molded seal protections
  • Minimal access to circuit board
  • Embedded physical connections

High-quality components

Scanreco hardware components like joysticks, paddles, toggles, and buttons are designed for near constant use, day in and day out. Our testing facilities in Stockholm, Sweden include robotic usage simulators that activate these individual components thousands of times per day. Rest assured that the controls on  your Scanreco wireless system have the  capability to be pushed, pulled, or switched millions of times during their lifecycles.

  • Carefully selected components
  • Durability tested hardware
  • Replace components without machine downtime

Ergonomic design

Scanreco wireless radio transmitters, both belly packs and handheld units, are designed for operator safety and comfort (plus they look really cool too!). Nearly 40 years of radio remote control expertise and customer feedback has provided us with a unique perspective on the ergonomic design of mobile hydraulic remote controls. In addition, Scanreco-specific accessories enable operators to control equipment safely and comfortably all day long in harsh conditions.  Mini and Maxi options include neck straps, waist belts, and our ultra-comfortable aluminum carrying hook.

  • Ergonomic housing design – change positions as you go
  • Useful accessories made especially for Scanreco products available
  • Work with your distributor or Scanreco point of contact to find the right combination buttons, levers and joysticks for your needs

Wired tether control without batteries

Never-Stop Technology TM by Scanreco is just that: it enables you to finish the job even if your transmitter battery dies. Available only on our Mini and Maxi platforms, you can pop in a fully charged Scanreco battery or run the transmitter via tether cable for as long as you need while recharging.

  • Replacement batteries available through your distributor
  • Operate transmitter via cable
  • Available in 2 meter, 10 meter, and 30 meter lengths

Less downtime with quick fixes and replacements

What sets Scanreco apart from other remote-control manufacturers is our commitment to safety, reliability, ease-of-use, and service. In most cases, Scanreco enables you to replace individual system components and not have to retrofit an entire system. This allows you to:

  • Keep mission-critical operations running without costly delays and lead times
  • Reduce operating expenses
  • Keep spare parts on-hand for emergency replacement

Made for extreme jobsites and weather

Scanreco customers demand functionality with minimal failure in nearly all environments: wet, dusty, humid, salty, and extreme cold and hot temperature. From the frigid North Sea to the dusty Texas panhandle, Scanreco radio remote controls are designed to perform day-after-day.

  • Operational temperatures –25C to +70C (-4F to +160F)
  • IP 65 or IP67 on all products
  • Molded seal protection

Electrical protection

Every job site brings its own unique challenges and things that keep you up at night. Your Scanreco radio remote control should not be one of things you worry about. Although any machine can fail unexpectedly and cause damage to electrical integrations, rest assured that your Scanreco system is built to survive catastrophic machine failures. It may go into hibernation, but it will continue to work.

  • Short circuit protected outputs
  • Transient protection
  • Molded seal protections
  • Withstands electromagnetic interference
