Scanreco acquires CrossControl to create a unique HMI technology partner for mobile equipment OEMs

Scanreco, a global leader in remote control technology, has entered into an agreement to acquire CrossControl, a high-tech supplier of advanced display computers and central vehicle computing solutions for industrial vehicles and machines. The combined group will have approximately 600 employees and annual revenue of around SEK 1.4 billion, with sales from more than 100 countries globally.

The acquisition brings together two complementary technology domains – remote control and onboard HMI and vehicle computing - under one roof, creating a partner built for the demands of modern machine development.

The joint product portfolio includes remote control solutions, on-board displays, vehicle computers, and machine control solutions for a wide range of applications. At its core is a modular, open, and scalable software platform that supports OEMs on their digitalization journeys. Going forward, the software platform will enable a unified development environment across machine models and applications providing a trusted foundation for building increasingly connected, data-driven, and automated solutions.

Combining these capabilities within a single technology partner reduces integration complexity, enables more unified and brand-specific user experiences, and creates a stronger foundation for the software-defined machine.

Built on deep application knowledge and OEM trust

Both companies are global providers rooted in a Swedish innovative engineering culture, built through entrepreneurial drive, deep machine application knowledge and long-standing partnerships with some of the world's leading OEMs.

"This acquisition is part of our long-term plan and reflects a clear transformation in the market. Machine control and HMI are becoming more strategic to OEMs as software, connectivity and intelligence take on a greater role. By combining onboard and remote solutions with intuitive HMIs and strong computing capabilities, we help OEMs build machines that are more capable, more productive and ready for the future – while creating unique operator experiences." said Peter Lageson, CEO of Scanreco.

Stronger foundation for OEMs – and for operators in the field

In many mobile machinery applications, the operator's role is shifting from direct machine control toward supervision, planning and interaction with stakeholders across the value chain. In this context, machine system complexity needs to be abstracted to an operator-friendly level - putting usability and ease of operation first. Both Scanreco and CrossControl have built their product offerings around operator-centric interaction. Going forward, this remains the underlying philosophy, addressing the rising expectations on intuitive machine interaction from a new generation of operators - and from increasingly intelligent machines.

In connection with the acquisition, the investor Priveq will join as a minority shareholder, investing in Scanreco’s future. The founders, Kaj Johansson and Björn Askestig, remain majority shareholders and continue in their operational roles - ensuring continuity of leadership and long-term strategic direction.
